Welcome to our new priest!
Fr Ian Verrier, FSSP, is assigned in Warrington as Shrine Assistant.
Fr Verrier arrived last Wednesday, moving from Reading where he was based. He was born in 1982 in Birmingham and raised an Anglican. He read Music at the University of Birmingham, during which time he became a Catholic.
He pursued postgraduate cello performance at The Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) and gained a Post Graduate Certificate in Education with specialist string teaching at the RNCM and The Manchester Metropolitan University. He plays the cello, harpsichord, piano and organ.
He taught Catechism and Music whilst being Head of the Lower School at a Catholic boarding school in France, before entering the Fraternity’s international seminary in North American in 2008. There, among other duties, he was organist, led the polyphonic choir and a Gregorian chant schola.
In September 2008, Fr Verrier entered the International Seminary of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Nebraska where he was ordained a priest in May 2015. His first assignment was in Reading, Berks. We are delighted that he is joining us at St Mary’s Shrine. In particular, his musical background and skills will make him soon feel at home in our community.

We thank the Marian Franciscans of Gosport for making these conferences available via their Radio Immaculata.
Thank you for your dedication and support to the liturgical and devotional life at St Mary’s Shrine, in particular those involved with singing; cleaning; flower arranging; welcoming visitors and handing hymnbooks and bulletins; collection baskets and counting; maintenance; sacristy supply; bell ringing; rosary and devotions.
Could you assist with any of those tasks in 2018? This is a very good way to serve God and neighbours, giving of our time for the worthiest of cause, and with immediate results. Contact us to know more.
New Repository! At long last, we now have a proper space for Mass cards, good books, rosary beads etc.
Volunteers wanted to man it after Mass. Thank you.
Fr Konrad Loewenstein, FSSP thanks all for their kindness during his two-month covering at St Mary’s and for the cards and gifts received at Christmas.
He is now back in Bavaria but may come again for a few weeks over the next six months.
Welcome back to our singers after the Christmas break.
Congratulations to Anna Hansen, a soprano pillar of the choir, and to her husband Richard who also sings at St Mary's when he's not opera singing abroad. Anna safely delivered her first baby, Matthew Shane, before Christmas, weighing 8 pounds 2 ounces.
Thanks to all for supporting the cake competition before Christmas. St Mary's music made over £200, so we should be able to pay for Anna's stand-ins for a few weeks!
