Goodbye, Fr Mawdsley! Join us in the Narthex after the 11am Mass this Sunday to thank Fr Mawdsley for his dedication at St Mary’s, as he takes leave from us and heads south to our Reading apostolate. Following his priestly ordination on 2nd July 2016, Fr Mawdsley served at St Mary’s as Shrine Assistant from July 2016 to October 2017. He had been on pastoral placement at St Mary’s already as a Deacon, from Christmas 2015 to Easter 2016. He was recently assigned to our house in Reading, whence our Mass centres of Bedford and Chesham Bois are served. We wish him every success in his new assignment and we assure him of our prayer.
Welcome to Fr Konrad Loewenstein, FSSP, who succeeds Fr Mawdsley as Shrine Assistant ad interim until the New Year, when Fr Ian Verrier, FSSP will begin his permanent assignment here. Although Fr Loewenstein’s family is from Bavaria, he grew up in England and studied at Oxford. After his ordination in 2002, he served in Italy and Germany.
Congratulations to our Second Year seminarian Ciall on his First Tonsure, conferred last month at our seminary in Nebraska. Now liturgically a cleric, Ciall wears the cassock and surplice, and prays the breviary in choir ex officio. Please pray for him and for many more to answer God's call, especially in Great Britain and Ireland.
Make your prayer for vocations even more efficacious via www.fssp.org/en/confraternite.htm. A Mass of Requiem will be offered here tomorrow, on Monday 6 Nov 12:10pm for deceased members of the Confraternity of St Peter, our international prayer network for vocations; and for deceased FSSP members.

Regardless of your marital status, come to learn about this beautiful sacrament, so misunderstood in modern society. Even though you may have been married for decades, or may not wish to get married, this retreat could help you deepen your appreciation of matrimony, and give support through your advice and prayer to families, couples in difficulty or simply engaged.

Help Poor Souls enter Paradise this week!
On all the days from November 1st through November 8th inclusive, a plenary indulgence, applicable only to the Poor Souls in Purgatory, is granted to those who visit a cemetery and pray even if only mentally for the departed. There must be one visit for each day one seeks to gain the indulgence; one visit will not apply for several days.
Any public cemetery with Christian tombs will do. The nearest one is 5 minutes walk from St Mary’s: St Elphin’s, Church Street, WA1 2TL.
Conditions for both indulgences:
1. Only one plenary indulgence can be granted per day. 2. It is necessary to be in the state of grace, at least by completion of the work. 3. Freedom from attachment to sin, even venial sin, is necessary; otherwise the indulgence is only partial. (By this is meant attachment to a particular sin, not sin in general.) 4. Holy Communion must be received each time the indulgence is sought. 5. Prayers must be recited for the intentions of the Holy Father on each day the indulgence is sought. No particular prayers are prescribed. One Our Father and one Hail Mary suffice, or other suitable prayers. 6. One must be absolved in confession the fortnight before or following.
Over twenty adults and more children attended our first School information meeting last week.
Various options were discussed. Please send us any suggestions for this great project to take shape.
