UPDATE: Clerics / Religious: Dispensation from the Office this Saturday
June 16, 2017
UPDATE: It is confirmed. Archbishop McMahon will give a dispensation from the obligation to pray the Divine Office on Saturday 16 June for those who attend the Pontifical Mass at St Mary's (the ordinations) tomorrow. It will be a long ceremony (about two and half hours), surely time full of prayer.
There is a rumour (and we dearly hope not to prejudice it by a premature report) that there will be a one-day dispensation from the praying the Divine Office for all those who are obliged to say it and who attend the Pontifical Mass at St Mary's this coming Saturday (i.e for the ordinations). There is a lot of work to be done that day, a lot of praying, and a lot of celebrating--so if it turns out this rumour is true, we thank God and thank Archbishop McMahon, OP for their care of their shepherds! Clerics and religious: watch this space.
That said, all are invited to attend Solemn Vespers at 5pm on Saturday here at the shrine, presided over by the newly ordained Rev Alex Stewart. Vespers in choir is so beautiful that even dispensed from it one is glad to sing it.
