The Commander-in-Chief of Myanmar's military made clear in a New Year address that the Tatmadaw will continue fighting against the Kachin and Shan in the northeast of the country. This conflict has resulted in 200,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs). Yesterday we visited a small camp of 200 who lost their homes and land four years ago:

The Church is doing much to support the people in this camp, most of whom are Catholic. Nearby is St Francis Xavier Orphanage with 110 girls and 104 boys aged 1 - 18 years:
