Two Catholic women--Gertrude di Oliveiro and Helen Carr--founded a home for the aged in Rangoon over 120 years ago. Continuing the same foundation in Mingala Taung Nyunt township today, 22 Sisters of Reparation with 40 volunteers look after 130 elderly people who would otherwise be destitute. The sisters are up at 4:00am, praying the Office in common at 4:30am, and then spend the day alternating between tender care of the residents and adoration of Our Lord. There are 500 sisters in the order in Myanmar, most of whom come from Karen and Kayah States. Please remember them in your prayers.
According to the ferverino at today's Mass, the suffering of the innocent speaks of Christ's perfect innocence in His Passion--a participation which many nationals here have deep experience.
