Open Days at St Mary’s: Friday 9th and Saturday 10th September are Heritage Open Days in Warrington. St Mary’s Shrine will be open from 1pm to 5pm. It is a great opportunity to make Warrington’s most central Catholic church known from a wider public. Surprisingly, many people who work in the town centre don’t even know about St Mary’s. Help us put it on their radar kindly.
Our Director of Music, Michael Wynne, will play a programme of popular organ music by Bach, Elgar and Widor. All welcome to come and discover more about our shrine and her history. Please let your friends, acquaintances and colleagues know. Please volunteer if you are interested to be present in the church during the open hours, to assist visitors and to watch for security (signup sheet in Narthex).
Dedication of St Mary’s Church: anniversary on Tuesday 30th August. This date is a First Class Feast at our shrine, with a special form of the Divine Office prayed by the priests attached to the church. It is the anniversary of the solemn consecration by the bishop of the church for the worship of God. The altar and building are dedicated to God’s service. Truly God is everywhere, but this does not exclude the practice of reserving special places in which the creature may hold communion with his Creator and worship Him.
Farewell to our valiant seminarians! What a joy for them and the congregation at St Mary’s to get to know each other over the past two months, as they visited or stayed for apostolate. As they begin the new academic year at our two seminaries in Bavaria and Nebraska, please remember in your prayers Deacon Alex, Seminarians Seth, Matthew, Emmanuel and Gwilym. Also, Marcus on apostolate at our Boys School in Normandy, and Ciall who will begin his very First Year of formation in America.
Would you like to see many more seminarians like them? Please take a Confraternity flyer at the back of the church and add your daily decade to those of our 5,000-strong Vocations prayer network – or visit www.fssp.org/en/confraternite.htm.
Welcome to Seminarian Thomas! We are delighted to announce that Thomas has been assigned in Warrington from this week until next summer, taking over from Marcus, and like him an ordained Acolyte. Thomas is from Sussex. Born in 1987, he studied Theology at Oxford where he also worked for a couple of years before entering our American seminary. His assistance at St Mary’s Shrine will be a great asset.

All are welcome to join in next year! See www.lms.org.uk.
