Corpus Christi PROCESSION Sunday 29th May
Thank you to all those who supported the event yesterday in various ways: flowers, Eucharistic patterns setting, music, booklets, cleaning the brass poles of the canopy, cleaning the church and sweeping after, cooking a regal picnic, and serving the Mass and procession. A special thank you to Fr David Heywood, P.P., to Celia (parish secretary) and members of the local parishes who joined us for the occasion. Thank you for supporting the May Crowning of our Lady’s statue last Sunday at the Lourdes Grotto in the Priory Gardens! Thank you for those who brought flowers, cleaned the garden, installed carpet and furniture, took pictures and sung – and last but not least, thank you to our young girls who carried or accompanied the crown of flowers. See the other album here:
The month of May is dedicated to Our Lady: please offer extra prayer to the Mother of God.
Feast of the Sacred Heart: this Friday with Mass at 12:10pm. And also on Sunday (both Masses) with Litanies of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
This Saturday, Feast of the Most Pure Heart of Mary, special Protectress of St Mary's Shrine. Let us give thanks to Our Lady for the many graces She has obtained for all of us here at St Mary's, and let ask for many more.
PRO-LIFE MEETING: any ideas or suggestions to share about pro-life activity: come and discuss it at St Mary’s at 7pm on Wednesday 15th June.
DIVINE MERCY IN THE MASSCONFERENCE:
Wednesday 22nd June, 7pm-8pm, St Mary’s Church, by Fr Armand de Malleray, FSSP.
St Faustina attended daily Mass in the... Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite, the universal form in her time. Unsurprisingly, the prayers of that Missal speak a lot about Divine Mercy. No doubt it inspired her prayer and helped her understand better Jesus' message to her.
Come and discover this essential aspect of the Divine Mercy devotion. Bring friends along. All welcome. Free entrance.
Next Young Adults’ Gathering: Saturday 18th June (1pm-3pm): "Why pray and How?"
St Mary’s Priory. Any young adult 18-35 welcome.
How encouraging that we were 15 last Saturday 21st May for our second gathering, with a talk on the theme "How be a young saint in a pagan world?"
We were 14 in April. Several of those who came in April could not make it this time, while others came for the first time.
1pm: Lunch at St Mary’s Priory (Smith Street, Warrington, Cheshire, WA1 2NS)
2pm: Talk by Fr de Malleray, followed by questions and answers on "Why pray and how: meditation, contemplation, Rosary, Holy Mass, Bible reading?"
If you can, you are welcome to arrive earlier for our usual Saturday activities at St Mary’s Shrine next door:
10am-12noon: Eucharistic Adoration and Benediction
12:10pm: Holy Mass
This event is open to any 18-35 youth, Catholics or not. Please share this among your friends and bring them along. Only let us know how many you bring.
Next meeting: Saturday 16th July, 1pm-3pm.
Please pray for four new priests ordained last Saturday 28th May at our American seminary in Nebraska by H. Ex. Fabian Bruskewitz, Bishop emeritus of Lincoln: Edward Brodsky, Joshua Houck, Christopher Mahowald and Dominic Savoie. In total, 15 new priests will be ordained for our Fraternity in 2016, including our own Deacon James Mawdsley, FSSP on 2nd July.
See NEWLY PRINTED FLYERS to pray for vocations at the back of the church. Make your prayer for Vocations even more powerful via our 5,000-strong international Vocations Prayer Network, the Confraternity of St Peter: www.fssp.org/en/confraternite.htm (see Fact Sheet at the back of the church). Please visit our new Vocations webpage on: www.fssp.co.uk
Mass Intentions: Requesting a Mass to be offered for a particular intention is a longstanding tradition in the Church and we are grateful for the many intentions of the faithful here at St Mary’s. Demand however is high and it is not always possible to meet a request at short notice, as there are currently several months’ worth of unsaid masses on the books. This will alleviate when Deacon James returns in July as a newly Ordained FSSP Priest, as we will both be able to take intentions (though not all masses will be said ‘publicly’). Until then, please be patient, and think ahead, especially if a particular date is preferred. Thank you.
Bookstall: we have one volunteer for after Sunday Mass. Would you like to be involved as well in running this? It could begin small with cards, rosary beads and a few pamphlets. But there is scope for much more, including good books and DVDs, missals, good religious art. Please give your suggestions and offers.
Calling all ladies of St Mary’s Shrine and Warrington Choral Society! St Rocco’s Starlight Walk 2016: Some of us girls from the choir of St Mary’s Shrine and Warrington Choral Society are signing up for this year’s Starlight Walk for St Rocco’s, our local Warrington hospice supporting those with life limiting illnesses. In addition to raising essentially funds for this local charity, we’re aiming to get as many St Mary’s ladies and girls together, so we can also boost the profile of Music at St Mary’s. Will you join us? Contact Kirsty MacDonald in the choir on 07885 403847, email email@example.com
