£ 2,008.59 raised for Nigeria! by Conor, our sponsored pilgrim back from Santiago de Compostella. Thank you for your generous support to our Lenten Community Campaign, sponsoring Conor who walked all the way to Santiago during Lent. £2,008.59 were raised for the Marian Shrine of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Nigeria. Our parish priest in Nigeria Fr Angelo, FSSP emailed us about the proposed donation: “That is wonderful news. We actually must buy a generator tomorrow as both of ours have expired! It comes at a providential time of course! It will also cover the cost of petrol for the generator for a year.”
Well done: 15 young adults & young professionals attended our second meeting yesterday. After a convivial lunch at St Mary's Priory, Fr de Malleray, FSSP gave a spiritual talk on "How to be a young saint in a pagan world?” followed by Qs & As. Some arrived earlier and attended the 12:10pm Holy Mass, and the 10am-12noon Eucharistic Adoration with Confessions. Further meetings on Saturdays 18th June and 16th July (1pm-3pm). Any young adult 18-35 welcome.
Warrington WALKING DAY on Friday 1st July: we still need to identify a lead steward for our group, who will take responsibility on the day for the safety of the walkers and act as the main point of contact with the organisers should there be any significant incident. Please contact JANE WRIGHT our Shrine Secretary.
Please pray for four of our deacons to be ordained priests at our American seminary in Nebraska next Saturday, 28th May, by H. Ex. Fabian Bruskewitz, Bishop emeritus of Lincoln: Edward Brodsky, Joshua Houck, Christopher Mahowald and Dominic Savoie. In total, 15 new priests will be ordained for our Fraternity in 2016, including our own Deacon James Mawdsley, FSSP on 2nd July.
Make your prayer for Vocations even more powerful via our 5,000-strong international Vocations Prayer Network, the Confraternity of St Peter: www.fssp.org/en/confraternite.htm (see Fact Sheet at the back of the church). Please visit our new Vocations webpage on: www.fssp.co.uk
Bookstall: we have one volunteer for after Sunday Mass. Would you like to be involved as well in running this? It could begin small with cards, rosary beads and a few pamphlets. But there is scope for much more, including good books and DVDs, missals, good religious art. Please give your suggestions and offers.
Fr Dave Heywood and Fr de Malleray have discussed options for a joint one-day pilgrimage in the coming months: Holywell in North Wales; Ladywell Shrine near Preston; York. Please tell us your suggestions.
