If it is difficult to know in what ways one has sinned, for example while preparing for Confession, the three leaflets linked here might help. You can collect copies from the narthex of St Mary's Shrine (as pictured below). The leaflets give sound ideas for examinations of conscience: one leaflet tailored to adults, another for teenagers, and the third for children from six- or seven-years-old upwards. The leaflets were composed by Fr Tim Finigan, who is recovering cheerfully from major surgery.
To the left of these in the photo (and below), is a blue leaflet from the Good Counsel Network. These offer support to women who are pregnant but worried, assuring of wide-ranging and long-term support, so that abortion can be avoided. The leaflet asks: "Who will listen and really understand how scared and sick and angry you are? We will!Freephone Pregnancy Advice: 0800 096 2518."
The leaflets explain that an unborn baby's heart is beating on the 18th day, and by the 24th day the baby has eyes, spinal cord, nervous system, thyroid glands, lungs, stomach, liver, kidneys and intestines. The Good Counsel Network were present at the recent SPUC Youth Conference.
