Talk 3: Discovering Jesus Christ in the Old Testament
March 1, 2016
The third in a series of four Lenten Talks entitled Discovering Jesus Christ in the Old Testament will be given at 7pm, Wednesday 2nd March at St Mary's Shrine. The first presentation showed that Jesus is written about in the Old Testament. The second talk examined how Jesus' Passion is present in the lives of the saints, for example Adam, Noah, Abraham, Jacob, Moses, Boaz, David, Jonah and Ezekiel. Cumulatively these reveal that Jesus’ Passion and Resurrection is the central theme of human history since the beginning.
The third talk, also given by Deacon James Mawdsley, FSSP, proposes that everything said by St Stephen in Acts 7 about Abraham, Joseph, Moses and the Temple is ultimately about Jesus Christ. As the lives of these men of the Old Testament were patterned on Jesus, and as St Stephen in the New Testament also shone with Jesus living in him, so all of us are called to conform ourselves to Jesus so that His Passion and other Mysteries may be manifest in us.
A pdf of the complete slide-show is available here (although it is of limited use / interest without the spoken commentary).
