Bishop Schneider: true witness requires a fearless proclamation of the Faith before non Catholic Christians
February 28, 2016
Today Bishop Athanasius Schneider celebrated a Pontifical Low Mass with music at St Mary's Shrine, assisted by the rector of the shrine, Fr de Malleray, FSSP. The choir sung Ecce Sacerdos Magnus for the Processional, and Allegri's Miserere at the Offertory.
Holy Mass was followed by refreshements and then a talk by Bishop Schneider on The Christian Faith and Martyrdom. The talk, like the Q & A afterwards, shone with clarity, giving joy to the faithful hungry for the Truth.
True witness to the Catholic Faith, the Bishop taught, requires not just the fearless proclamation of the Faith before pagans, but also before non Catholic Christians. He quoted St Thomas Aquinas that to dissent from one dogma of the Church is to have a dead faith, rather than a living faith, for the rule for one's assent is no longer the entirety of the Gospel Christ entrusted to His Church but ones own will, which chooses what it wants to accept and what to reject. As it is childlike to receive the Holy Eucharist kneeling, so it is childlike to receive the Truth simply.
